Ulibarri PROJECT

Justification of the project

As we said when talking about the linguistic project of our School Sagrado Corazón, the main objective with regard to the Basque language consists in promoting a knowledge  and use of this language.

Until now, we have made great progress but this has not been sufficient to promote the use of Basque, and therefore we decided to join the Ulibarri Project of the Basque Government during the academic year 2005-06. For this purpose, we have presented our normalisation project for the next four years.  The general aims of the Ulibarri Project are as follows

General AIMS

• To learn the Basque language and promote its use both in formal and informal relations within the educational community.
• To accept the project and adopt a positive attitude towards this.
• To ensure the use of Basque both in school and extra curricular activities.
• To encourage informal relations in Basque between students.
• Basque is the cornerstone of our culture and for this reason we aim to promote a knowledge and awareness of our culture.
